I am absolutely delighted to announce that The Alma pub in Newington Green was awarded Asset of Community Value (ACV) status by Islington Council on 5 December 2013. It's future as a community meeting space, a public house and an iconic building is now secured. The Alma cannot now be sold on for unsympathetic other uses without the community knowing and having the chance to buy it. Your support for the petition submitted to Islington Council was a significant factor in securing the ACV status for which our heartfelt thanks goes out to you all.

This is a bitter sweet victory for me as I am no longer the landlord of The Alma, but your passionate support and personal messages that I received from so many of you, locals as well as from around the world, was astounding and I am incredibly proud to of met and served so many of you during my time at The Alma.

The people have spoken and been heard......and victory is ours!!
