Cake & Beer Tasting
Multiple CAMRA award winning pub, the Snooty Fox in Canonbury, is taking part in CAMRA’s National Event at the end of the month.
CAMRA is urging people to visit pubs this summer under the banner of the Great British Beer Festival, supporting them after a year of restrictions. In the absence of a single Great British Beer Festival (GBBF) event this year due to COVID-19, the campaigning not for profit organisation is working with licensees to hold events and activities celebrating live beer and real cider as part of a Great British Beer Festival at Your Local event, taking place from 30 July – 8 August, just a week after the proposed date that restrictions are set to end.
The Snooty Fox is doing something different and is offering an alternative to afternoon tea and cake by hosting a beer and cake tasting of five beers and five cakes. The tasting is being run by British Guild of Beer Writers and accredited European Beer Consumers Union beer judge, Christine Cryne.
Christine said, “It’s great to be doing something with Nicole and her team at the Snooty, which has won North London CAMRA’s Pub of the Year twice. This pub, originally known as the Grosvenor, was taken on by Nicole Gale and her partner Jonathan twelve years ago and started a concerted effort to turn a failing pub around, which they have done in style”.
Christine added, “This is the first face to face event I have done since February 2021 and it’ll be joy to see people in the flesh again. We’ll be pairing five cakes with five beers and can guarantee some luscious combinations and it’s a great way to show people how to pair food with beer whilst having some fun and supporting a local pub. And all pubs could do with some support after this last year”.
The event will take place at 4pm on Saturday 31st July. Tickets are only £17 per person and can be booked at: https://tinyurl.com/cakenbeer.
