The King Charles I is a really lovely local just off Caledonian Road in King's Cross, owned by a consortium of local people. Charming wood-panelled interior should be very cosy. Always a good selection of real ales, mostly from independents, in perfect condition. GBG.

We may spend the whole evening there or go on to some of the other first-class pubs nearby, depending on how the mood takes us and what's open.
