March 2021 - the pub has been converted to a managed pub Stonegate

Reported permanently closed on next door Dec 22nd 2020. "Yorkshire Grey on Theobalds Road. Just seen on ITV London news that The Yorkshire Grey pub has shut for good because of being kept shut due to the Corona virus, if a big pub like that has had to shut for good what's the fete of smaller pubs and smallish businesses around us here in Central London ?"

" I’m Paul. I’ve had the pleasure of running The Yorkshire Grey pub here in WC1 for the last 12 years, but unfortunately due to Covid and the way it has hit the hospitality and events sector we are handing back the pub to Stonegate."

Formerly the home of a micro-brewery, long deceased. It is a large imposing building, dominating the corner with Gray’s Inn Road, and though essentially one large room inside, care has been taken to create different drinking areas, including a couple of booths. Seating is at a mix of low tables and seats, sofas, and some very large high tables in the middle of the room. The lunch menu is largely sandwiches and burgers, while the evening menu goes for fancier burgers, sausage or pie and mash, pastas, salads, platters, see their website for times.

A large room upstairs is available for hire for meetings or functions. Outside benches. Beers seem to rotate fairly regularly and since 2013 also stocking a good number of bottled beers such as Moncada, Hackney and Shoreditch. In 2015 became an accredited member of the CAMRA LocAle scheme. Tube – Chancery Lane, lots of busses.
