Building dates from 1843. Site of one of the last fatal duels in England in 1873: the victim, Col Fawcett, is said to appear as a ghost. The pub's website has a nice section on this. Pre Covid three pumps were in use, including a regular from Hammerton but now two cask beers are available. The pub has said they would rotate a few brands on a monthly basis, including the two Purities, and other guests such as from Verdant and the Timothy Taylor.
There is an Interactive Darts Club - see website for details. Sat nights see DJs playing from 9pm till 1am. Major sporting events on big screens.. Two large outdoor areas, front and back, a large function room for hire.
