Reported as closed 4 June 2019 Reopened as Michael's Den. From Michael's Den - "A hidden gem with a beer garden, located in residential quiet neighbourhood. A gastropub serving fresh and delicious menu along with a great selection of beers, wines and cocktails. Family business focused on the community." Former Truman pub. In 2017, after about 10 years in residential use, this pub reopened again as Halliford House but this did not last. It was keg only unfortunately with a wide selection at the posher end of the national brands. Not a very large pub with an open kitchen to one end and the bar in the corner. Phillip Clark, who has previously run a spa business in Manchester, had opened Halliford House, complete with a restaurant and cocktail bar, with business partner Sophie Jarvis. Planning had been granted in 2009 to convert upstairs to housing and extend the ground floor to create additional accommodation. A planning application in 2014 was turned down on the grounds that no effort had been made to market the ground floor as a pub. Per an agent's website - The former customer trading area and cellar, located at ground and basement levels, have been converted to two residential apartments, one is a two bedroom and the other a single bedroom. The former beer drop has been converted to a light well and as such can be reinstated. It said that "Potential to reinstate the ground and basement as a public house" but for many years there was no such sign that would ever happen.
